Lin Dong Fu is a very funny man in both senses of the word. He certainly makes you laugh but he is also, at first glance, an unusual performer to find at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, that is until you realise just how “international” our festival is. Lin, (because as he reminds us in the show Lin is his family name, and Dong Fu his given name) has come from Shanghai to share with us his love of the blues and his observations about the differences between Chinese and Western culture and his show Made In China succeeds in doing just that.Lim is an extremely charismatic performer who draws his audience in with his gentle rapport and skills as a raconteur. The most wonderful thing about the show is that rather than feeling as though you’re watching a comic performing onstage, removed from his audience, Lin draws you in and invites you to participate in his show as though you were sharing a meal at his house. This is achieved because Lin is also a talented actor in his own right (and a Jazz club owner in China). Made in China is a delightful experience and at the end of the night you leave feeling as though you’re made a new friend. A great show particularly if you’re looking for something different this festival.
Lin also performs his show in Mandarin for a Chinese-speaking audience.
